The Lycée Félix Le Dantec is located in a remote coastal area of Brittany that developed thanks to a technopole, specialised in telecommunication technologies and industry (Orange labs). The area around Lannion is rural and has a tradition of intensive farming causing environmental problems. Alternatively, organic farming is booming in the whole area. The institution has benefited for decades of a local economical dynamism and a favorable social environment and became an important pole of education for sciences and technology, with a European education section. 190 teachers are now teaching 1800 students in general, technological (industrial, tertiary), vocational and superior studies (international business, optronics and electrotechnologies). The school has a strong language teaching policy. Breton, English, Spanish, German and Italian are taught and hundreds of students participate every year in mobilities to the UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, New Zealand and India as well as regular video-conferencing contacts with students in Spain and England.
