Fjölbrautaskólinn við Ármúla (FÁ) is a comprehensive, upper secondary school, which offers vocational as well as general education as a preparation for academic studies. The school is one of the leading secondary schools in information technology in Iceland and a leading school among the vocational training-schools for those working in the health care system. The Comprehensive College/Comprehensive Secondary School at Ármúli in Reykjavík is organized on unit credit basis. The school year is divided into two terms of 14.5 weeks each, and a course covered in two weekly lessons of forty minutes each for one term carries one credit. There are about 900 students attending FÁ on a daily basis and the school takes pride in its welcoming environment and in the sense of community engendered by a spirit of co-operation among staff, students, and parents.
