OFICINA – Escola Profissional do Instituto Nun’Alvres, in Portugal, is a private school that operates with financial support from the government. It is located in a semi-rural area, circa 4 kilometres from a town called Santo Tirso (around 14.000 inhabitants) and 20 kilometres from Porto (second biggest city in Portugal). It is a professional school that currently has 5 different courses (Audiovisuals, Multimedia, Computing, 3D and Marketing) that are equivalent to secondary studies. The school has around 340 students, 30 teachers (the majority are external teachers) and 7 staff members. One of the primordial aims of the school is to promote the development of skills and competences for the exercise of a profession in close articulation with the local companies so as to meet the needs of the industrial sector by providing technicians with skills, knowledge and practical know-how.
